Founding General Partner @ White Sand Investor Group

Mr. Donnelley is a Founding General Partner of the White Sand Investor Group, LP, a fifth generation investment partnership of the Chicago based RR Donnelley family. Mr. Donnelley is also a founder of KD Venture Partners a seed stage impact and InvestTech investment fund based in Silicon Valley. As an investor of both his personal and family’s assets, Mr. Donnelley has increasingly focused on the nexus between investment for financial return and investment for social and environmental impact and is actively investing in innovative companies that promise to have a significant impact on our society and planet.

Mr. Donnelley is a member of the board of trustees of LGT Venture Philanthropy Foundation and LGT Impact Ventures- the impact platforms of the Royal Family of Lichtenstein and the LGT Bank. From 2006 to 2007, Mr. Donnelley attended the Philanthropy Workshop West and from 2009 to 2011 served as the Co-Chairman of its Board of Trustees. As a member of it’s executive committee he helped to oversee a merger with the UK based Institute of Philanthropy and now continues to serve on the board as Vice Chairman of the merged organization -The Philanthropy Workshop- which is one the top philanthropy education organizations globally.

Mr. Donnelley is also a member of the Board of Trustees Synergos and a member of its Global Philanthropist Circle – a network of over 100 leading Global Philanthropic Families that was launched in 2001 by David Rockefeller and his daughter Peggy Dulany. Mr. Donnelley also serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of Northern California and on the board of Stanford’s Global Project Center where he is engaged in promoting research on innovative models in philanthropy and impact investing.

Mr. Donnelley is a key advisor to the China Global Philanthropy Institute, which was founded by Ray Dalio, Bill Gates and three prominent Chinese Philanthropists in 2015 and he has also been instrumental in helping to launch the China Philanthropy Forum, one of the highest-level convenings on Philanthropy in China.

From 1989-1991 Mr. Donnelley lived and worked in Beijing at the University of Aeronatuics and Astronautics; he now travels to China nearly once a month where he advises a number of organizations and individuals and where he works to promotes best practices in philanthropy and impact investing.

Mr. Donnelley has appeared as a speaker, moderator and facilitator at conferences in the US, Europe and China including the Global Philanthropy Forum, The UBS Art of Philanthropy Forum, the Bo Ao Forum, The San Ya Forum, the Caijing Annual Conference, The Oxford Smith School of Enterprise and Environment Impact Investing Conference, Stanford’s Global Project Center’s Impact Alpha conference, The China-US Strategic Philanthropy Workshop and The US-China Philanthropy Summit.

Mr. Donnelley graduated from Yale University in 1988 with a B.A. in history.
