Paris de l’Etraz has spent over 20 years in investment banking and venture capital, mainly at UBS Bank and ABN AMRO. Since 2002, he has been an entrepreneur and angel investor. Today he is also a professor of Entrepreneurship at IE Business School (#1 in Europe and #8th worldwide FT ranking) and runs the Venture Lab for Startups. He is also on the board of the Applied Innovation Institute.
He has a keen interest for what makes an entrepreneur and what he/she needs to succeed. In particular he has focused on mobile app development and startups in areas like digital marketing, entertainment, sports management, renewable energy and new technology industries.
His PhD and research work focuses how professionals deal with their “Comfort Zones” in relation to a world full of ambiguity and uncertainty. He studies the Quant Mentality and how Un-Quanting, or moving out of our comfort zones allows us to help maximize our professional potential.
